Halloween was over but there were still Burning Witches at Sundown (at Granada) in Dallas. Burning Witches, an all female heavy metal band based in Sweden, was founded by guitarist Romana Kalkuhl, as her lifelong dream was to start an all-female, heavy metal band. She recruited her fellow Swede, bassist Jeanine Grob, and Filipino drummer Lala Frischknecht, who had recently moved to Sweden, to join her. Dutch vocalist Laura Guldemond and the newest member of their coven, former Iron Maidens guitarist Courtney Cox completed the band's current lineup.

The Witches came into Texas for the first time and fans filled the Sundown on their Dallas stop to see their show. The formidable women hit the stage at full speed and never slowed down, displaying boundless energy, especially Guldemond, who was jumping around and throwing high kicks while never missing a note. Cox fit right in with the rest of the band, performing an impressive guitar duo with Kalkuhl. Fans pumped their fists and sang along to favorites "Dance with the Devil," "We Stand as One," "Evil Witch" and "The Dark Tower."

Unfortunately, this magical night came to an end with their final encores of "Burning Witches" and a killer cover of Dio's "Holy Diver." After the show, Burning Witches met with fans at the merch table, signed autographs and took photos with many fans, sending them home even happier.

Special thanks to Michael Schoder and Jon Freeman for their help.
